Introduction

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the gateway for admissions to undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses in India. Who Conducts NEET UG Counselling?

There are two main authorities responsible for NEET UG Counselling:

  • Medical Counselling Committee (MCC): Conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical colleges, all seats in deemed universities, central universities, institutes like AIIMS and JIPMER, and B.Sc. Nursing programs across India.
  • State Counselling Authorities: These authorities handle counselling for the remaining 85% State Quota seats in government & private medical colleges within their respective states.

MCC NEET Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is the authorized body to conduct counselling for the National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test (NEET) for qualified applicants. The MCC/DGHS will conduct counselling for:

  • 15% AIQ of government colleges
  • 100% Deemed Universities
  • Central Universities (including Delhi University, AMU, and BHU including Institutional/Domicile Quota)
  • ESIC
  • AFMC (only Registration Part)
  • I.P Universities (VMMC, SJH, and D ABVIMS, RML, and& ESIC Dental), Delhi (50% AIQ + 50% Institutional Quota)
  • 100% AIIMS
  • 100% JIPMER

NEET UG Eligibility Criteria

NEET eligibility marks 2025 The 10+2 percentage required for the NEET 2025 exam is different for each category and can be found below. NEET eligibility marks in class 12 are only considered for PCB subjects and are as follows: UR – 50%, OBC/SC/ST – 40%, PWD – 45%
NEET 2025 Qualifying Exam Candidates must have a 10+2 or equivalent from an accredited board, with PCB, Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. Aspirants appearing for 10+2 or equivalent are also able to apply for NEET.
Age Limit for NEET 2025 Candidates must be 17 years old at the time of admission or will be 17 on or before December 31st of the year of their admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Medical Course.
Nationality Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) intending to pursue Undergraduate Medical Courses in a Foreign Medical/Dental Institute must also qualify for NEET (UG).
